Hello to all and would like to say that although this my first post I have enjoyed reading the various threads
occasionally for some time. Many very informative.
I have always enjoyed shooting different bench and varmint rifles I have built over the years.
On 3 of these I have the older external adjustment
Unertls.
I have always been curious as to the year of manufacture of these.
All were bought used so I dont have a clue . all have a serial number and wondered if there were any records kept?

J Unertl Scope Serial Numbers Chart Printable
A Genuine Unertl 10x Tactical scope. Was told this was the same scope Unertl made/used by USMC. Manufactured in the USA! Scope is in near mint condition. Both caps and mounts included along with original user manual and beautiful case marked Unertl Opt. Co.This is not a USMC issued scope but is identical to those used by them. This is a used but in super org shape a Vintage Classic J. Unertl Rifle Scope. This scope is what I call super shape inside and out and even has the screw on cap covers for the scope. The scope is very clear and also the cross hairs are nice. Nice usable target scope. It is a 20X and the number on the scope is 79469. TRECustom: Both my Unertl scopes have the serial #s' below the Unertl logo on the left side of the tube, directly in front of the cross-hair retnetion ring, held on with 3 small screws. My 10x Varmint is # 36627, mfg. All serial numbers ran consecutively. Unertl Scope S Serial Numbers Ran Unertl Scope S Series Scopes Are We offer a fine crosshair (.0002) and a medium crosshair (.0005). Multiple dot Optical Services Company reticles are available for most scopes.
